Terra Nova is the story of a family living in 2149. The planet is dying. The air is not breathable, the population is under a strict 2-child rule, and the sky is obstructed. However scientists found a rift in the time continuum that allows people to go back to a prehistoric time. This is mankind’s only hope for survival. A colony is being established in a world 85 million years in the past.
The show is being filmed in Queensland, Australia. At the summer 2011 Television Critics Association Press Tour, the cast and producers talked about the show.
Jason O’Mara
Jason O’Mara who previously starred as Sam Tyler in the series Life on Mars (2008-2009), a show which had his character traveling back in time, although not as far as his character travels in this new show. When asked about his new role he joked, “Well, I called my family, saying, ‘Guess what? I got a new show. It's about a cop who travels in time.’ And they said, ‘I think we've seen that one." He was cognizant of the similarities between the premises of the two shows.
