Valentine's Day is always on February 14. It is believed that Valentine's Day came to be when a priest by the name of St. Valentine married couples and was imprisoned for it. The reason why was in the Roman Empire many young men were needed as soldiers, but that being engaged or married would make the men stay home instead of going off to fight wars.
Therefore marrying and getting engaged became illegal. St. Valentine had a soft heart and felt for the young couples so he defied the laws, was imprisoned and unfortunately sentenced to death. But the sentiment lived on and St. Valentine was immortalized for his kind heart and good deeds. Today Valentine's Day is celebrated with the giving of cards, flowers and chocolates to show one another how much they mean to us. Children have the most fun making homemade cards for one another.
